Knit-A-Long Kickoff with Larissa Brown

Print Larissa Brown joined us for the February meeting. She is the designer of the patterns selected for the very first TKG Knit-A-Long (KAL), which is beginning this month. Larissa is also one of the designers for the 2016 Rose City Yarn Crawl mystery knitting project. Michelle Kroll, the other half of the design team for the Yarn Crawl cowl, came too and showed off the mystery shawl which many members are working on. You can see Larissa’s 88(!) knitting designs on her Ravelry page  and see Michelle’s on Michelle’s page here. Larissa very generously offered a 25% discount for the selected KAL patterns until the end on this month – details in the newsletter.

Larissa is alsoknitalong an author and described the process and fiber skills she tried to master when writing her first novel. It is a time travel love story set in a fictional 10th century Iceland titled Beautiful Wreck. Today she’s at work on a second book in the same world, So Wild A Dream, as well as more stories to come in 2016. Many of her knitting designs are inspired by the research she does for her writing.

She has written two knitting books.  My Grandmother’s KnittingFamily Stories and  Inspired Knits From Top Designers and KnitalongCelebrating the Tradition of Knitting Together, and a number of other publications – see the Ravelry page -she is one prolific gal!

Here are the patterns chosen for our KAL – don’t feel limited to just one! We will be sharing our KAL WIPs at the March meeting.
