Our June meeting program was Technique Night which has become an annual favorite for members. The format for the evening was two twenty minute sessions so everyone could choose two different classes taught by our members.

The choices included Making a Chart From a Written Pattern, Reclaimed Yarn, Decreasing and Increasing, Reading Lace Charts, Embroidery on Knits, German Twisted Cast-On and Kihnu Braided Two-Color Cast-On, Seaming from the Master’s Program, German Short Rows and Russian Bind-Off, Reversible Cable Scarf, and the Anna Zilboorg Buttonhole. With so many great options it was hard to choose just two! | |

Marina says she enjoyed herself, got to know some other members, and learned something new: “I was recruited to teach ’embroidery on knitting’, inspired by the new book ‘Splendid Apparel’ by veteran designer and teacher Anna Zilboorg. Three enthusiastic knitters attended my class, and we all enjoyed chatting about the ways embroidery can be used on our projects. | |

Afterwards, I joined a group that was learning Anna Zilboorg’s ‘Perfect Buttonhole’, and managed to produce the cutest and closest-to-perfect buttonhole I have ever made. It was a fun evening, practicing new techniques and spending time with members I haven’t had a chance to chat with before.” | |
